So much to say....

The title says it all...as we sit here thinking about what to write, we're struck with the question, "where do we start!" It has been a busy few months in the Rozsa household. We were able to spend a couple days in Bloomington with Kristen's family and friends over Christmas before heading back to KY where we spent the next week moving. We have a random collection of pictures to share a little bit of what has been going on with us this past month. On Christmas day we had dinner with Kristen's two uncles, aunt, grandma, and brother. Kristen's parents were in Mexico for Christmas, so we enjoyed spending time with her extended family. As part of the day Uncle Mike brought a Peppermint Pig for us to celebrate. Have you heard of it? We want to share a few with you here:

If you haven't figured it out yet: we're pregnant! We found out in November that we would be expecting a baby at the end of July. Since that time we have been busy telling our friends and family and planning out some details of this new addition to our family. We've moved off campus so we can have room to grow and mainly because the on-campus housing we were previously in does not allow for children. The Lord provided a place for us just 2 days after we found out we were pregnant. This was such a blessing so we could get settled during Christmas break and before the next semester begins.

There you have it! Our Christmas celebration and our big news of 2009! Kristen moved into a new role in her office last week, so she is busy learning new responsibilities. Viktor has the month of January off from class and will begin again in early February. Now that we've moved and are somewhat getting settled, we hope to keep this blog updated a little more often. Merry Christmas from the Rozsa family! We will be heading to IN on Christmas eve to be with family and friends before returning back to KY on Friday. We are due for a big update soon, so we'll be catching you up to speed in a week or so. Until then, have a wonderful Christmas as you celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We're back!

Yes, it has been a long time since we have updated this blog. The middle of the semester came quickly and things seemed to get crazy and stay crazy. This is really the first time we have had a chance to sit down, reflect, and write about what has been going on with us. Whew! Things are good in the Rozsa family, keeping busy, but enjoying life together. Since our last update Kristen has traveled to Orlando, FL and back and Viktor survived 5 days at home alone. It was our first time to be a part as a married couple and we've decided to keep that to a minimum in the future. Everything went well, but we definitely enjoy doing life together and not miles apart. Kristen enjoyed the opportunity to travel with her boss and other co-workers to experience the community on Asbury's Florida campus. As campus visit coordinator for both the KY and FL campus, it was important for her to have first-hand experience of life on both campuses to better serve the prospective students.

November has already been a big month for us! Among other things (keeping up with work, school, etc), on Friday, Nov. 14th, we volunteered at our church's Jesus Prom, a celebration for the mentally and physically disabled people of our community and in several surrounding states. It was probably one of the most rewarding and joyous occasions we have ever had the privilege to attend. We, along with our friends Dan and Steph and about 1000 other volunteers, lined up and received over 1200 individuals through the doors of Southland on Friday evening. We were each paired with an individual as he/she entered the building and spent the next 4 hours escorting them to dinner, games, pictures, the dance floor, and game shows. Steph and I happened to get two guys who were good friends, so the four of us stayed together for the evening. The halls of Southland were hopping and it was such an incredible thing to see the interactions of all the people. It was as if we had a seen a taste of what heaven will be like!

On Sunday, Nov. 16th, we celebrated Viktor's birthday with some of our friends from Asbury. We had a good time at Bd's Mongolian BBQ and finished the celebration at home with Viktor's favorite, pumpkin swirl cheesecake. We have posted some pictures below of our time at Bd's. Viktor received his first ever Happy Birthday balloon...thanks Dan and Steph!

This week started out with a surprise visit from our good friend, Doug, from Bloomington. He showed up in Kristen's office around 11am and proceeded to be Viktor's living alarm clock. It was such a blessing to spend some time with him and to see a face from back home. Thanks for coming by, Doug!

We're now looking ahead to the holidays and having some down time without the demands of work and school. It amazes us that Thanksgiving is next week! We look forward to sharing the holiday together with a friend of ours, Natalie, and her family from Texas! We are thankful for each one of you and your friendship. Thank you for your love and support in life!

Apples, pumpkins, pears, OH MY!

Although it has been in the mid to upper 80's here in KY and not anything like fall weather, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather last weekend at Boyd Orchard. We had a lot of fun and walked away with some great tasting apples and apple butter. This weekend was Fall Preview Weekend at Asbury, so Kristen was busy hosting 45 guests on campus as they came to experience Asbury and learn more about what God is doing here. It was a great time of fellowship and Viktor was able to step away from studying and come for a couple of meals and sessions to extend his welcome to the prospective students as well. It was Fall Preview Weekend of last year when we first came to check out Asbury, so it was exciting for us to be on this end of things and to share our experience from where we were a year ago to this point in time. Kristen will travel to FL in a couple weeks to host more prospective students at the Preview Weekend on the Orlando campus.

We continue to keep busy with our jobs, classes, and friends, but are thoroughly enjoying it at the same time.

bits and pieces...

Always room for a party:

To follow-up with the previous post re: Viktor's Name Day...my boss found out about the celebration of Name Days in Hungary and asked if I would help our staff celebrate each of our Name Days within the office. Last week Viktor helped me translate the names into Hungarian names and then we came up with the list of Name Days to celebrate. The fun part is that only my boss and I know when everyone's Name Day is, so we're going to do surprise parties in honor of each person when the day comes around. Today was the first office Name Day celebration (in honor of Bob/Robert), so we decorated the office, invited all of his friends, played a game, and ate some yummy food! It was so fun to honor Bob today and fun to inform people who stopped by about this Hungarian tradition.

Current Event:
At 5pm this evening I was leaving work as usual, walking across campus (next door, really) and came across rushing water across the parking lot and this pool of water in the yard. It definitely didn't seem "normal" and seeing as the maintenance department was closed for the day, I made my way back into the office to inform my boss, who then called someone else to report it. At 8pm tonight (3 hours later) this is the view from our apartment...

It not only took 3 hours for someone to come out, but they've brought in a bulldozer, the water is still rushing out of the ground, and everyone is standing around with hands on their hips wondering what to do next (really...we can hear them from our apartment).... HAHA! Welcome to Wilmore!

In Other News:
We are keeping busy as usual. Classes are going well for Viktor. And, for those of you who don't know, I have stepped down from taking classes this fall. Due to a number of reasons we decided it would be best to postpone until perhaps the spring. We made this decision before my first class, and even though it was a very difficult decision, we have been reassured that we have made the right choice for right now. With our busy work schedules and Viktor's busy class schedule, we can see how it has been best for me to hold off for this time. Depending on how the semester goes and how we see the Lord leading, I may enroll into a class or two in the spring. There is no rush, so we will wait and see how the Lord leads. Continue to pray for Viktor and his studies and that he will get adequate rest with working and studying at such intense levels.

Happy Name Day, Viktor!

On Friday, Sept. 5th, we celebrated Viktor's name day. Although the day was pretty busy with homecoming activities on campus, we were able to celebrate with dinner and games on Saturday. Dan and Stephanie came over for dinner and brought along a name day cake for Viktor (it's even appropriately decorated like a Hungarian flag...how creative?!?!).

Labor Day Weekend...

Last weekend we went to Bloomington and had a great time with family and friends. We arrived Saturday morning to the Smith's house for hanging out with baby Ella and then we headed to Karst Farm for the annual Hoosier Cup for some high school soccer. This has become an annual event (unplanned on our part) when we've gotten together with our friends, Gretchen and Adam, and the rest of Gretchen's family to watch her younger sister, Francesca, play. After the game we were on our way to Indianapolis where we spent the rest of the day/evening with Viktor's friend (Tom) and his family. Tom and Beth host many International students over the years and this year they are hosting a Hungarian student, Peti, along with 2 Koreans and a Brazilian. It was fun to bring together these various cultures for Hungarian Gulyas (made by Viktor) in honor of Peti's birthday. It was a special homemade meal for his first birthday overseas and away from home. After dinner we made our way back to Bloomington to catch some sleep at Kristen's parents house before our next visit over breakfast with our good friends, Nick and Jen, from church. We accompanied them to church where we were welcomed as always by our precious friends and church family. It was so great to see everyone, including some of the youth kids we got to know over the past year. They are special people. After church we made our way downtown for lunch with Dave and Courtnee, who we got to know through working at Bloom last year. They are both on staff with Campus Crusade and we've had a lot of fun getting to know each other over the past few months as we've transitioned out of Bloom and into new ministry. After a little walk around the 4th Street Art Festival we made our way back out to Kristen's parents where we spent the remainder of Sunday and all day Monday on the lake. It was a much-needed time of rest with family before our trip back to KY where classes were awaiting us on Tuesday morning. It sure was a busy weekend, but we enjoyed the time with everyone so much.

The first week of class is behind us and all is well. We trust you had a great holiday weekend and pray a special blessing upon all of you who are starting out another semester of school, whether teacher, student, or parent.
