a weekend at Pop and Mimi's

This past weekend (4th of July) we headed home to Indiana to spend some time with my parents on Lake Monroe. I have been looking forward to introducing Emily to boating and the lake and was curious if she would like it or not. I spent almost every summer weekend on this same lake as a kid. We had a fun-filled weekend and were so thankful for a time away from school, work, etc. We arrived on Saturday morning to an eager Pop and Mimi who were ready to play! After a few hours of swimming in the baby pool, we went into Bloomington to visit with my grandma and uncle. We then had a nice dinner with our friends (Uncle Tom and Aunt Beth) from Greenwood. They had 3 exchange students (one from Hungary, one from Spain, and one from France) with them. We enjoyed catching up with them and Emily enjoyed the garlic breadsticks, haha. Actually, Emily loves Beth and so we had no problem keeping her entertained all evening.

We started Sunday with some yummy Monkey Bread (4th of July is not complete without it) and headed for the boat. We spent three hours on the lake and Emily loved every minute of it. She only got in the water for about 30 seconds because her life jacket wasn't fitting properly and she was too uncomfortable. However, the smile never left her face. The rest of the day we spent back in the pool and at a cookout. The three of us went to bed early and missed out on all of the fireworks. Viktor was originally told he would have to work on Monday night, but at the last minute they called off. So, we got to stay until Monday night and soak up some more sun and boating. We borrowed some baby gear from the neighbors and Emily enjoyed swimming in the lake for almost an hour before I made her get out!
