A New Toy for the Rozsa Family

So, Emily and I just spent a long weekend with our good friends, the Bans, in N. Indiana. We had a great time visiting and Emily had fun playing with everyone. We will have pictures to post later, but Viktor wanted to try out our new gadget (a gift from the Bans this weekend)--a video camera. We can now capture fun moments with our baby girl on video...and post them on here!

Emily's sock...

This morning, Emily and I were packing up to head out to Walmart so I could get a few last minute things for our trip to N. Indiana tomorrow. I was ready to walk out the door when I noticed Emily's sock was missing. I was a little frustrated that I was completely ready and now had the interruption of the sock...haha. I put everything down and went on a search. After a couple minutes (probably just one, but it seemed longer), I found her sock, put it on, and out the door we went. As we were driving down the road to Walmart, we stumbled upon a bad wreck (literally missed it by seconds)...the car had been jolted about across both ways of traffic (debris was everywhere), people were running to the scene, and immediately I prayed for the situation. It was at that moment that I also thanked God for Emily's misplaced sock this morning...for a second I wondered what would've been if we hadn't had the interruption and were at the place of the accident just a few seconds prior. As we continued on our way and pulled over for numerous emergency vehicles (3 police, 2 ambulances, and 1 firetruck), tears came to my eyes as I again, prayed for those involved in the wreck and also thanked God for protecting Emily and I this morning. Next time, maybe I'll be a little less quick to get frustrated over a lost sock.

Today I am especially grateful for God's protection over our family!

Emily is 5 months!

Look at those cheeks!

Emily is scooting all over the place these days. She goes backwards and can turn herself in circles. It seems to frustrate her more than anything because she always moves further from her toys rather than closer. It's fun to watch her learn these new skills....

It's hard to get a picture without a drop of drool...but, it's super cute! We've seen no sign of any teeth yet (except perhaps the drool and constant need to chomp on something hard).

New Year's 2010

We spent New Year's Eve with our good friends, the Bevils, and had a blast! Here are some pictures of our New Year's celebration!

We gave Emily her first taste of solid food...rice cereal. She seemed to do well with it, but then she got sick with RSV (not related!) and was so congested she couldn't eat well. We're holding off on solids for a little bit longer, but it was a fun experience for all!

Of course, this is the way you should eat Rotel...right out of the crock pot...

Of course, the night would not have been complete without a couple rounds of Settlers of Catan (while watching the ball drop--can you tell how excited the Hungarians are about the NY ball drop...haha)

Yes, we played Settler's until 2:37am....got home after 3am...and had maybe 3 hours of sleep...not my brightest moments in life!

Emily's Baby Dedication

On Dec. 27th we had Emily dedicated at our home church (Evangelical Community Church) in Bloomington, IN. It was a special time as we publicly dedicated her life to God and committed ourselves to raising her in a Christ-centered home.

My youth pastor, John Mangrum, led the ceremony. He is special to both Viktor and I and it meant a lot that he could lead us in prayer as a family.

Emily is wearing her great-grandmother's dress from 89 years ago. She is pictured here with great-grandma Carolyn, who lovingly let us borrow it for the occasion.

Christmas 2009

This Christmas was not only memorable because of it being Emily's 1st Christmas, but also because Viktor's brother, Andras, was able to come over from Scotland for two weeks. It was a busy two weeks, indeed, but we enjoyed giving him a taste of our life in the States. It was also special to finally have someone from Viktor's family meet Emily!

We spent 4 days in Bloomington with my family. We enjoyed visiting with my parents, brother, uncles, aunt, and grandma. Here I am in a deep conversation with my Uncle Mike...who also got to meet Emily for the first time. She was a big fan!

Here we are getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner. Viktor and I took turns with Emily who was sleeping in the basement (so he is missing from the picture).

What better way to welcome Andras and Betty to Bloomington than with IU t-shirts.

Here we are with our good friends from Asbury (who are now in a church in northern Indiana), Dan and Steph. We met up with them for lunch in downtown Indy on Saturday.

Just a note...

We have had a busy couple of weeks since our last blog post. Viktor's brother, Andras, and his girlfriend, Betty, arrived on Dec. 21st from Scotland. Since then we have been busy showing them around the area, celebrating Christmas (in Bloomington) and New Year's, and playing a lot of Phase 10 and Settler's of Catan! We spent a couple days in Indianapolis to visit some dear friends and also had Emily's baby dedication at our home church in Bloomington. As of 10am this morning, Andras and Betty are back home in Scotland. We are slowly getting back in a routine and Emily is wondering where her friends have gone! On top of all of this, Emily has been sick since New Year's Day. We have been to the doctor twice since Saturday and a test today confirmed she has RSV. Poor girl! She has a nebulizer to help with her breathing at home. Each session takes about 10-15 minutes and she puts up quite a fight. We are hoping and praying for a quick recovery and that her small lungs will be protected from any further complications.

I have many pictures to post, but those will have to wait until another day. Happy 2010!
